Mahira began studying the art of Belly dance in 2003 as a student of world class dancer and instructor Amara Al Amir. She has performed in countless shows since then as a member of Belly Dance Divas and Tapestry World Dancers dance troupes under her mentor and as a soloist. Mahira began choreographing her own performances in 2005 and graduated Amara Al Amir’s dance program at a professional level in 2006, mastering a wide variety of classic Egyptian Cabaret and Folkloric techniques

She then expanded her education by studying with numerous instructors such as Trisha McBride (American Tribal Style), Sarah Locke (Tribal Fusion Style) and Ariellah Aflalo (Gothic Fusion Style). Her philosophy is to never stop learning or growing in one’s art and she regularly attends seminars with some of top dancers performing today. Mahira enjoys exploring and teaching belly dance in all its forms, from its traditional ancient forms to the art’s most modern evolution.

Mahira has been teaching Belly dance since early 2007 as well as performing at private parties and events. She is the director and founding member of Urban Oasis, an innovative new dance troupe who will be making their début performance at the Rakassah East Middle Eastern Dance Festival in October 2007.
